Clearfield family wins home renovations in contest

CLEARFIELD — The family of USAF Staff Sgt. Kevin Dilley was the winner of a Home Depot Facebook contest and will receive $20,000 in home repairs and improvements, Home Depot announced.

Dilley is on a one-year tour of duty in Greenland, leaving his wife and five children to cope with a home that needs major improvements. In addition, it needs accessibility renovations to help two children who are in wheelchairs.

The Dilleys were among nine military families entered into Home Depot’s “Give the Gift of Good” contest on Facebook. They received the most “likes” on the Facebook page and were notified of their win Wednesday at a Salt Lake City-area Home Depot store.

They said earlier they will immediately replace the roof of the 1949 home. Other repairs and additions will include removing the carpet and installing hardwood floors on the upper level so their daughters can more easily move around in their wheelchairs. Insulation in the walls will be installed as well as a new heater, windows and possibly an air conditioner.
