Not guilty plea in neighbor shooting

FARMINGTON -- Meloney Toone Selleneit pleaded not guilty to charges that she played a role in the shooting of her neighbor.

Selleneit, 53, of Centerville, appeared in 2nd District Court on Thursday using a wheelchair for mobility. She is charged with one count of first-degree felony criminal solicitation and second-degree felony charge of purchase, transfer or possession of a firearm by a restricted person. She is being held in Davis County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Judge Thomas L. Kay set Jan. 12 for another court hearing.

Meloney Selleneit is accused of telling her husband, Michael Selleneit, 53, to shoot their neighbor, Tony Pierce, on Oct. 30. Michael Selleneit is charged with one count of first-degree felony attempted murder and second-degree felony possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

According to an arrest warrant, Meloney Selleneit bought the handgun for her husband 10 years ago. The couple kept the gun under a pillow on their bed.
