OGDEN -- Two people whom police suspect of shoplifting got a lesson in what goes around, comes around.
Shortly after 5 p.m., an Ogden police officer stopped Korin Vanhouten, 47, and Eldon Alexander, 36, as they left the WinCo at 12th Street and Wall Avenue with unpaid-for cotton swabs, make-up and batteries, Police Lt. Tony Fox said. The officer cited them for shoplifting.
But when the two got back to Alexander's Ford Ranger in the parking lot, they saw that they, too, were victims of theft. While they were in WinCo, someone took the stereo amplifier, drum machine and cigarettes from the unlocked Ranger, Fox said.
Fox said he doesn't think he has seen anything like that in his whole career.
The items they are suspected of shoplifting were worth $26. The officer estimated their possessions are worth $60, Fox said.
Detectives will investigate the burglary.
