West Bountiful woman charged with theft of packages

BOUNTIFUL -- Jamie Ford, 40, was charged Friday in 2nd District Court for playing a part in the theft of several packages delivered to people's porches.

The West Bountiful woman was charged with six counts of mail theft, a class B misdemeanor, after police suspect she and another person drove around Bountiful and Centerville stealing packages, according to court documents.

A Bountiful police officer stopped a vehicle she was in and arrested her at 2:43 p.m. Thursday. When the officer inspected the vehicle, he found one package in front of Ford and others in her purse, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Ford told the officer that she was with the second suspect during the thefts but did not steal anything herself, the affidavit reads.

She was booked into Davis County Jail.
