Packers' Finley calls Tebow coverage 'disturbing'

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Tebowmania is sweeping the nation and one Packer isn't happy about it.

Tight end Jermichael Finley is fed up with the attention Denver's Tim Tebow has received this season.

"I sit at home, start watching TV and all I'm seeing is Tebow," Finley said. "That's kind of disturbing. We have a guy here that's breaking records every week and you have a guy in Tebow that's saying 'God' every word and he gets coverage. Of course I love my faith and God but come on man."

Tebow's string of fourth-quarter comebacks have matched, if not surpassed, the Packers' pursuit of 19-0 as a national storyline. Last week, Tebow led his sixth fourth-quarter comeback this season. He may be one of the most polarizing athletes of our time. As a result, his name has been mentioned a few times.

Finley believes the shine will wear off.

"He's telling everybody what they want to hear," Finley said. "You see him and he's patting everybody on the back saying, 'You're going to make this catch. I promise because God said,' and he makes it happen. Stuff like that. It confuses people. People that don't know the game outside of the fans, of course they're going to hype it up. But guys that see a good player and a good quarterback, they know what kind of guy he'll be down the road when he gets exposed. Everybody who knows the game knows what kind of player Tebow is going to be."

Still, Finley added that the coverage doesn't bother him. He just wishes his quarterback was recognized more.

"With me, I don't care too much," he said. "I just look at it and say, 'Wow, they're not showing my guy, 12, love.' He probably doesn't care either, but at the same time if you look at that win column and lose column, it talks for itself right there."

There have been some busy Wednesdays inside the locker room. The pace has certainly picked up with each win. Overall, though, the scene here at 1265 Lombardi Ave. hasn't exactly been a zoo.

Tebow has lured a camera or two away. Wide receiver James Jones, for one, hopes Green Bay plays second fiddle, saying, "I like it. I want him to keep on winning and keep on having the success he's having. It takes a lot of the attention off of us...If it's all said and done, we're 19-0 and we've won the Super Bowl, they'll talk about us."
