Man faces charges, accused of pointing gun at Layton party

LAYTON — A 28-year-old man is facing a felony charge after police say he pointed a revolver at guests at a party in Layton.

Ian Richard Bowers is charged with third-degree felony aggravated assault and two misdemeanors: intoxication and carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence of alcohol.

Police Lt. Jason Hinojosa said officers were called to 2063 E. Sunset Drive at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

“There had been drinking, an argument broke out, and (Bowers) happened to have a revolver,” Hinojosa said.

Witnesses said Bowers pointed the gun and cocked it, but then fled when police were called. Police found the gun in some bushes. No one was injured.

Bowers was booked in Davis County Jail and appeared in 2nd District Court in Farmington on Monday.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Bowers gave a breath sample and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.209.
