Realtors host Santa event for kids with cancer

LAYTON — A combination of Christmas and Las Vegas magic gave some area families with children battling cancer a short reprieve Saturday.

The Northern Wasatch Association of Realtors hosted a Breakfast With Santa on Saturday for HopeKids of Utah and treated 300 children battling a life-threatening illness to a party.

The four-hour event was at Layton Christian Academy, said Chris Crowder, music and media pastor for Christian Life Center & Layton Christian Academy.

Realtors and volunteers provided the families with face painting, music, games, photos with Santa and a show by Las Vegas magician Mark Hamilton, Crowder said.

“This is a big event for our families, and they look forward to it all year long,” said C.R. Oldham, executive director of HopeKids’ Utah Chapter.

“The children work hard to get healthy enough to join this party, so it is an especially joyous celebration for them, their families, as well as the donors and volunteers from our organization,” said Bob Hill, NWAOR president.
