SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Transit Authority is ready for the new year.
UTA's final 2012 budget was adopted Wednesday by the agency's board at its regular monthly meeting.
The agency predicts a jump of more than $13 million in it's total revenue, going from $270.6 million in 2011 to $283.8 million in 2012.
Although UTA officials expect more cash to come in for the new year, they also expect to spend more money.
The 2012 budget shows a spending increase of nearly $19 million dollars, with total expenditures rising from $180.4 million in 2011 to $199.1 million in 2012.
Officials also expect system-wide ridership revenue to increase significantly in 2012, with fare box revenue rising from $37.7 million to $45.3 million.
UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter said the increase will come from both increased ridership and an expected fare increase that will raise base fares from $2.25 to $2.35 in April.
With several new lines opening up in late 2011 and 2012, UTA expects ridership to increase by 13 percent in the new year.
The 2012 budget also includes a 4 percent increase in sales tax revenue from 2011, rising from $178.2 million to $185.4 million.
