Major softball event planned for summer in Kaysville

The city plans to host an Amateur Softball Association (ASA) National tournament in the summer summer.

The fast pitch western national for girls ages 16 and under will be held at the Barnes Sportsplex from July 30 to Aug. 4, 2012.

Teams from 13 western states will compete. The city previously hosted a tournament in 2009, and subsequently earned the Jim Farrell ASA Award of Excellence for hosting one of the highest rated ASA championships that year.
