Tax advisory board defines its purpose

LAYTON — The Davis County Tourism Tax Advisory Board has adopted a resolution clarifying its role as an advisory board to the Davis County Commission.

The board adopted the resolution at its Dec. 1 meeting.

The board is to “assist and advise the commission” in the best use of the tourism revenues collected through the hotel room tax, restaurant tax and vehicle lease and rental tax.

Davis County’s tourism tax generates about $4.4 million in annual revenues.

The board is to review the projected revenues and advise as to their use, make suggestions for enhancing revenues by enticing tourism business to the county, and review submitted proposals for the use of the funds and submit proactive suggestions regarding use of the funds, said Community and Economic Development Director Kent Sulser.
