USU's ag school sees enrollment growth

LOGAN -- Utah State University officials say its agricultural school is outpacing other departments in student growth.

The Logan Herald Journal reports (http://bit.ly/tBUi4W) that over the past three years, the College of Agriculture has seen the highest percentage increase in the number of enrolled students.

College of Agriculture enrollment for the fall 2011 increased 8.7 percent over fall 2010.

Associate Dean Janet Anderson says a sluggish economy, better college recruitment efforts and an increased interest in sustainability are contributing to the growth.

Overall enrollment at USU is also on the rise. Officials say more than 28,900 students are enrolled at USU campuses in Logan and Price.

That's an increase of 2.1 percent over 2010 and the highest number of students in the school's 123-year history.
