Lillard again named Big Sky player of the week

OGDEN -- For the third time in four weeks, Weber State's Damian Lillard has been selected as the Big Sky Conference men's basketball player of the week.

Lillard, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound junior from Oakland, Calif., averaged 25 points, 7.5 rebounds, four assists and two steals per game as the Wildcats earned wins over Mayville State and Utah of the Pac-12 Conference.

Lillard scored a game-high 22 points with five assists, three rebounds and two steals at Weber State beat Utah 80-51 at the Dee Events Center on Dec. 22.

Lillard made 7-of-15 shots from the floor, was 4-of-7 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Weber State had never beaten Utah by more than 13 points prior to Thursday's 29-point win.

Lillard played just 24 minutes in the Wildcats' 106-57 win over Mayville State on Dec. 19, but he made the most his time on the court, recording his second career double-double. Lillard scored 28 points with 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Lillard made 8-of-11 shots from the floor, was 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Lillard, who is tied for the national lead in scoring with an average of 25.4 points per game, shot 57.7 percent from the floor, 61.5 percent from 3-point range, and made all 12 of his free throws in the two games.

Lillard has been named player of the week three times this season, and five times in career.
