'Nurse-in' staged at Layton Target

LAYTON — A group of protesters decided to raise awareness Wednesday about the acceptability of breastfeeding at the Layton Super Target.

The “nurse-in” was part of a nationwide demonstration to support a woman who said she was harassed at a Texas Target for breastfeeding in the store in November.

The local protest took place around noon and went very well, said Greg Garlitz, a department manager at the Layton store.

“We (as a store) certainly welcome any type of nursing.”

In a public statement, Target said its policy is that guests who breastfeed discreetly in public areas of the store are welcome to do so without being made to feel uncomfortable.
