Prep basketball: Tough night for Tigers, Royals, Bobcats

SANDY -- The Huskies and Tigers battled back-and-forth all night before host Hillcrest was able to pull away for a 53-45 victory over the Ogden Tigers on Wednesday in non-league girls basketball action.

Whitney Lott and Robyn Oliphant each recorded a double-double to lead the Huskies past the Tigers.

Kelsey East led Ogden with 17, including five 3-pointers. Haley Lythgoe added 10 points, while Morgan Jones chipped in with eight points.

* WOODS CROSS 55, ROY 36: At Woods Cross, the Wildcats turned a strong first quarter into a non-league rout of the the Royals.

Woods Cross jumped out to a 24-9 opening lead. The Royals rallied to cut the lead to 11 at halftime but suffered through another poor quarter. Emily Howey scored 20 points and pulled down 18 boards for the Wildcats. Kaitlyn Hurley led Roy with 12 points, while Jordynn Barrerra scored nine.

* MOUNTAIN VIEW 48, SKY VIEW 44: At Orem, the Bobcats had a poor night at the line and it cost them a non-league win.

Jessica Raab led Sky View with 15. Tara Goldman led Sky View with 13 points.
