South Weber official focuses on CERT involvement

SOUTH WEBER — City Manager Rodger Worthen wants to upgrade the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) effort in this community.

Worthen advocates progressive training for citizens to help respond to any critical event, including first aid and recovery efforts.

Worthen said communities need to be prepared, as was evidenced in the last huge wind storm, even though there was little damage to the South Weber community. Often times first responders will end up getting hurt and need to be trained on how to find and assist victims.

Also, Worthen would like to have all city employees ready to report to work in case of an emergency; in other words, to have “all hands on deck.”

Worthen recently attended FEMA training and wanted to be ready for emergencies like the one Farmington had with the wind.
