Wakeboard park proposed for Eagle Mountain

EAGLE MOUNTAIN -- A Utah entrepreneur's plans for a wakeboarding park are getting preliminary approval from Eagle Mountain city leaders.

The City Council approved a site plan earlier this month for an attraction akin to an aquatic skateboard park.

The site would feature two lakes and a cable system to pull wakeboarders through the water. Builders say the cable system lifts the wakeboarders rather than dragging them as a boat does.

The attraction would also feature ramps and rails.

Professional wakeboarder Pat Panakos and his business partner Darcy Hanks are spearheading the effort.

A city spokeswoman tells The Salt Lake Tribune no date has been set to bring the project up for further approval.
