Jazz fans make nine-mile trek to see opener

Twenty five Olympus High School students, all die-hard Jazz fans, planned to trek nine miles from their school to EnergySolutions Arena on Friday, and attend Utah's home opener against Philadelphia.

The group met with players and coaches for pregame autographs.

Hopefully, the millionaire Jazz players will work as hard as some of their young fans.

Consistency

Southern Utah University gymnastics finished the 2011 season second in the nation in academics with 12 gymnasts earning NACGC/W Academic All-American citations.

The Thunderbirds finished the 2011 season with a team GPA of 3.8050, second only to Southeast Missouri State (3.9118). The Thunderbirds haven't finished lower than third during coach Scott Bauman's 21 years at SUU.

Southern Utah finished ahead of Utah (third, 3.7631), Utah State (19th, 3.4489) and BYU (60th, 3.0171).
