BRIGHAM CITY -- A couple of one-win teams met Friday in prep boys basketball action, and Box Elder turned up the defense and coasted to an 82-43 victory over Bear River.
The Bees (2-6) led 30-22 at halftime, but held the Bears (1-9) to 21 points in the second half.
Meanwhile, the Bees Shad Watson drilled five 3-pointers en route to a 32-point scoring performance. A dozen of his teammates found the scoring column.
Taylor Ramsdell scored 11 and Riley Robbins scored 10 for the Bears.
* WOODS CROSS 65, SYRACUSE 63 (OT): At Syracuse, the Titans caught a tough break at home and fell to the Wildcats.
Syracuse trailed 32-17 at halftime but whittled away at Woods Cross' lead and sent the game to overtime. Skyler Farnes scored 18, and Brady Cowley scored 13 for Woods Cross.
Diante Mitchell paced Syracuse (4-5) with 23 points, while Jordan Pobanz added 15 and A.J. Wilcox chipped in with 14.
* OGDEN 59, GRANGER: At Ogden, the Tigers steadily pulled away from the Lancers for the nice non-league win.
Ogden (4-5 overall) led 22-10 after one quarter and added to the margin at every break. Only a 1-for-9 effort at the foul line caused concern.
Lyden Egbert scored 17 points, while Spencer Smith added 11 points with three 3-pointers.
* BEN LOMOND 57, AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 34: At Spanish Fork, the Scots picked up a solid win and rested Josh Hardin's sprained ankle.
With strong outsides shooting, the Scots jumped out to a 34-14 halftime edge. Fernando Paredes drilled four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. Sterling Brandley added 11 points, and Malcom Shipmon and Nate Watkins added eight apiece for Ben Lomond (7-4).
McKay Bowman topped ALA with 10.
* CENTURY, IDAHO 41, NORTHRIDGE 38: Gillette, Wyo., the Knights wrapped up a 2-1 effort in the Wyoming tournament with a tough close loss to an Idaho school.
Northridge lost the lead in the third quarter and couldn't overcome the deficit. Tom Fraase led Century with 15 points.
Kason Casteel led Northridge with 10 points, while Preston Christensen added nine. The Knights topped Bismark, N.D., 50-47 on Wednesday, then edged host Gillette, Wyo., 57-53 on Thursday.
Girls basketball
* DAVIS 52, HERRIMAN 30: At Kaysville, the Darts ran their preseason record to 7-3 with a big final quarter.
Davis outscored Herriman 21-4 to end the game. Hannah Hoffman had 19 points, nailing five 3-pointers. Caitlyn Gibson and Morgan Hartvigsen added eight apiece.
* ST. JOSEPH 39, JORDAN 38 (OT): At Ogden, the Jayhawks prevailed in the fourth quarter and extra period to improve to 6-2 on the season.
Katie Berry scored 16 points, while Liz Tomon had 19 rebounds to go along with eight points for the Jayhawks.
* LONE PEAK 57, WEBER 45: At Pleasant View, the Warriors fell to 7-2 after another loss to a top-notch visitor.
Weber led 29-27 at the break. Erin Reichle led a balanced Weber attack with 13 points.
* BEAR RIVER 56, JUDGE MEMORIAL 48: At Salt Lake City, the Bears went on the road and turned a strong third quarter into a win.
Kapri Beus scored 23 for the Bears (7-5); Alyssa Park added 10.
* NORTHRIDGE 31, COTTONWOOD 28: At Layton, the Knights held off a charge by the Colts to improve to 5-4 on the season. Sydnee Acord led the Knights with 11 points and 10 rebounds. McKenzi Bybee added eight points.
In other games, Bountiful dropped viewmont 43-38 in overtime, Mountain Crest defeated Alta 62-57, and Woods Cross fell to Sky View 46-31.
