Clearfield crime spree suspect to have mental evaluation

FARMINGTON -- A woman police said went on a crime spree in December has had her case moved to mental health court for an evaluation.

Marianne Ricks, 52, of Clearfield, appeared in 2nd District Court on Tuesday.

She is charged with 11 counts of vehicle burglary, all class A misdemeanors, one third-degree felony possession of a controlled substance and one count of interference with an arresting officer, a class B misdemeanor.

The charges stem from vehicle burglaries that took place in Syracuse and Clearfield, just days apart.

Her next court hearing is set for Jan. 10 before Judge Glen C. Dawson, when officials will decide if she should receive help from the mental health court.

She has been held in Davis County Jail since Dec. 10 on a no-bail warrant.
