SOUTH WEBER — New Councilman Randy G. Hilton was sworn in Tuesday, along with incumbent Councilmen David L. Thomas and Michael Poff. Hilton is replacing Scott Woodbury, who had served since 2008. Hilton said that, after teaching in the science department at Ogden High School for 32 years and recently retiring, he is ready for a new challenge. Hilton said he has no agenda but just wants to “serve the community.” Concerning the gravel-pit dust issue in South Weber, Hilton said, “Parsons has done a lot of things the city asked them. As long as there’s wind, there will be dust.” Among other issues, Hilton commented on the city’s recreation program. He said he encourages a program that gives the community something to do in the way of sports and fitness. He would also like to see the parks finished because it’s a great place for residents to enjoy themselves. “This is a brand-new learning experience.”
