Taxpayers’ group to meet legislators

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Taxpayers Association will host its annual “pre-legislative conference” from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 19.

The conference will be in Room 210 of the East Senate Building in the State Capitol Complex, 350 N. State St.

Senate and House leaders, staff from Gov. Gary Herbert’s office, political experts and community leaders will cover a broad range of issues expected to be considered at the 2012 legislative session, say association officials.

Some of those topics include sales taxes on out-of-state vendors; giving the governor control of public education; and the private management of state parks.
