FARMINGTON -- A 47-year-old woman police say helped hide a man after he shot his father was in court Monday.
Karla Jean Puffpaff, of Layton, appeared in 2nd District Court before Judge John R. Morris. She is charged with second-degree felony obstruction of justice.
Another hearing has been set for Jan. 23.
Puffpaff's attorney, Ryan J. Bushell, said he is still going through the documents he received from prosecutors.
Police said Puffpaff picked up Joseph Allen Nance, 29, on March 19, 2010, shortly after he killed his father, Gregory A. Nance, at the Far West Motel in Kaysville.
Nance has been charged with first-degree felony murder and third-degree felony possession of a firearm by a restricted person.
His next court hearing is also set for Jan. 23 before Morris.
Nance is being held in Davis County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
According to court documents, Puffpaff gave Nance supplies and drove him to an underground bunker in Layton to hide him from police.
Charges were filed against Puffpaff on June 30, 2010, and she pleaded not guilty Oct. 24, 2010.
