Gene H. and LaVon Hancock of West Weber will celebrate their 65th anniversary. Family and friends may attend an open house celebration in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, at West Weber 1st Ward Cultural Hall, 4100 W. 900 South, West Weber.
They were married on Jan. 8, 1947, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
Born June 10, 1926, in West Weber to Heber J. and Laura Blanch Hancock, he graduated from Weber High School. He served in the Phillippines during World War II and retired from Pillsbury Mills in 1988 after 42 years of service. Active in the community and the LDS Church, he has served in many positions.
Born April 24, 1927, to John A. and Ruby Bailey Skeen, she graduated from Weber High School, and was a homemaker while her children were young. She later worked at Bon Marche and the Weber School District, retiring in 1990. Active in the community and LDS Church, she has served in many capacities.
Their children and spouses are RaeDene and Brent Hodson, Fremont, Calif.; Shauna and Ed Smith, Las Vegas; Karla and Dave Hall, North Ogden; Jeana and Neal Berube, North Ogden; and Blake and Terri Hancock, West Weber.
They have 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren with three arriving in the spring.
