St. Joseph Catholic High School is taking applications for head coaches in boys tennis and girls softball.
According to St. Joseph athletic director Alex Salvo, the Jayhawks will field a softball team due to interest from about 30 girls at the school.
"This is something that the kids pursued," Salvo said. "We have about 30 girls who are interested, and there are few girls sports in the spring. We looked at the budget, and said, why not."
The Jayhawks will compete in Region 13 this spring, hosting doubleheader games in Ogden when the other league members play St. Joseph. Interested applicants can contact Salvo at 801-394-1515 (ext. 230). or asalvo@stjosephutah.com.
LCA hires Rawlings as football coach
Layton Christian Academy announced Friday that Kitt Rawlings has been hired to be the varsity football coach effective immediately.
A gridiron standout at Woods Cross High School and former college player, Rawlings met his new team Friday with high expectations, saying, "I want to build a dominant program, one that represents the school and its mission and vision."
At Woods Cross, As a senior in 1989, he helped lead Woods Cross to a state 3-A runner-up finish. He went on to play defensive back at Kansas State.
Knocking 'em down
With the Northern Utah High School Bowling League at its midpoint, the race for the top spot is tight indeed.
Syracuse 1 and Roy 2 are tied for first place, with Roy 2 second. Syracuse 2 sits fourth, with Clearfield, Box Elder and Roy tied for fifth and Morgan eighth.
