Luxury housing planned for USU students

LOGAN -- A private developer is planning to open a luxury housing complex for students attending Utah State University.

The Logan Herald Journal reports (http://bit.ly/wtZXdV ) the Blue Square complex will open next fall in an area west of campus.

La Vita Financial President Dave Miller, the developer of the project, says the project will fill a void for students wanting higher-end, modern housing.

Along with housing, the complex will include 17,000 square feet of commercial space.

Miller says he is coordinating with city planners and university officials because of a recognized need for student housing. Last semester, housing at USU nearly reached maximum capacity.

The project has frustrated some neighboring residents, including USU students Crystal Chidester who says she is moving because the increased truck traffic is dangerous for her children.
