Slideoffs keep troopers busy along I-15

LAYTON -- Law officers were kept busy this morning responding to numerous motor vehicle slideoffs on I-15 due to icy road conditions.

There were about 50 slideoffs, with the majority occurring between Farmington and Layton, between 6:45 a.m. and 9 a.m., said officials with the Davis County Sheriff's Office Communications Center. There were no major injuries reported.

There were also several vehicle slideoffs on I-15 in Weber County but the exact number was not available, said officials with Weber Area Dispatch 911 Center.

In addition, about 8 a.m. a car traveling south on 1-15 too fast for existing road conditions went into the median and overturned near the exit 337 outside of Riverdale, said Cameron Roden, a spokesman for the Utah Highway Patrol.

A passenger was thrown from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital, Roden said. Information regarding the individual's name and injuries were not available.

Snow will taper off to snow showers this afternoon before diminishing tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.
