Davis County 4-H group won livestock bowl

Editor,

Congratulations to the Davis County 4-H-ers who won the Western National Round-Up Livestock Bowl Championship at the National Western Livestock Show in Denver, and at Colorado State University at Fort Collins. Team members include: Michelle Thurgood and Paula Anderson from Syracuse, Geena Gross from Layton and Kendall Ritz from Farmington. Coaches and leaders who assisted the team include: Scott Bass and other family related coaches, and Utah State University Cooperative Extension educator, Justen Smith.

The Davis 4-H Bowl team had to win the state competition at Utah State to be eligible to compete in Denver.

I know that these winning accomplishments require a lot of hard work and time. I worked for Colorado State University for nine years and was a 4-H agent and livestock specialist in Nevada for twenty-six years. Consequently, I feel I can speak with some experience of the time and work required to be a national winner. I showed cattle at the National Western Livestock Show in Denver and have judged there, and throughout the west, as well as our local Davis County fair. Again, congratulations to the team and I wish them the best of success for the future.
