Weber gets $13 million to deal with flood damage

OGDEN — Weber County has received $13 million in federal funds to help repair damage from last spring’s heavy runoff and flooding.

Weber Emergency Services Director Lance Peterson said the money will help fund improvements to the county’s flood control system as well as repair damage done by last year’s flooding to dikes originally built in 1933.

So far, he said, the county has had to do the best it can with its own crews and volunteers, but he said the amount of work is enormous.

"What we’ve done so far is baby steps," he said. "This will get us a couple miles down the road."
