New phone scam: donate for cops

OGDEN — Ogden police want the public to be aware that scammers are pretending to collect money for the officers wounded in the Jan. 4 shooting.

Police received information that money and donations were being falsely solicited for the families of the injured officers, on behalf of the Ogden Police Department, according to the department’s Facebook page.

Several fundraisers are going on at local businesses for the officers and their families, but no one should be calling people at home asking for donations.
