Council members approved the vacation of four lots in Alder Creek Subdivision.
Community Development Director Bruce Talbot said this action was needed due to a lot line adjustment and said the recorders office just wanted the city to vacate the original lots.
“This brings us to the understanding we need to change our subdivision ordinance with more simplicity in the process,” said Talbot. He said currently the vacations needed to be done by ordinance and only council members can vote on an ordinance.
Talbot said the lot line adjustment would just make one lot a little larger and one a little smaller, and said the smaller lot is still more than a third of an acre. He said in the past the city had vacated the street but not the lots in the subdivision.
Mayor Doug Clifford said the vacation of the lots would ensure they were recorded correctly so there would be no discrepancy between what is sold and what is recorded.
