After getting a look at the future of the Western Athletic Conference, the Utah State Aggies get slapped back to reality tonight.
The Aggies, who fell to future WAC opponent Seattle 73-66 on Thursday, stay on the road to face Idaho in a key WAC battle. Game time is 9 p.m.
Utah State is 10-9 on the season, 2-2 in the WAC, with guards Preston Medlin and Brockeith Pane leading the way. Medlin is averaging 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, and Pane is averaging 12.8 points and 3.6 assists. Also, junior forward Kyisean Reed is averaging 10.2 points and 4.9 rebounds, and senior forward Morgan Grim is averaging 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Idaho is 9-9 on the season, also 2-2 in the WAC, following its 80-68 road loss at New Mexico State last weekend. The Vandals, who are 4-3 at home this year, are led by senior guard Deremy Geiger who is averaging 12.8 points, and sophomore forward Stephen Madison who is averaging 12.7 points a game.
* UTES HOST SUN DEVILS TODAY: The Utah Utes will take a shot at snapping a four-game losing streak this afternoon, hosting Arizona State in Pac-12 action at the Huntsman Center.
Tues dropped a 77-51 loss to Arizona on Thursday. ASU lost to Colorado.
Utah's leading scorer and rebounder is junior center Jason Washburn, who averages 10.7 points and 6.5 boards per game. Kareem Storey leads the Utes in assists with 2.4 per game.
The Sun Devils are expected to be without Trent Lockett, their top active player, who averages 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds. ASU's next leading scorer is Carrick Felix at 10.6 points per game, while Kyle Cain's 6.4 rebounds ties Lockett for the team lead.
* COUGARS TRY TO BOUNCE BACK: Brigham Young will try to turn its fortunes around in West Coast Conference action toninght against Pepperdine.
Game time is 6 p.m. in Malibu, Calif.
The Cougars fell to 16-5 overall, 5-2 in WCC play, with their first league home loss of the season, an 82-68 loss to Loyolay Marymount.
Pepperdine (7-11, 1-6) lost at No. 24 Saint Mary's 61-47 on Thursday. Caleb Willis scored 14 points, Jordan Baker had 13 and Corbin Moore grabbed 15 rebounds for the Waves.
