FARMINGTON -- The city council has adopted a new policy for off-duty employment of police officers, in accordance with new state guidelines adopted in 2011.
The policy will require officers to get written approval from the police chief for off-duty employment.
It also sets standards of prohibited outside employment, as well as requirements for groups or individuals contacting the city police department for police services.
The new guidelines come on the heels of Senate Bill 92, which was passed by the Utah Legislature in 2011. The city council approved the policy by unanimous consent.
