Counties try to settle boundary dispute

MORGAN -- Is it Morgan or Summit county? For 9,800 square feet on the border between the two counties, not even county surveyors are sure.

"We need to determine where the true boundaries are between our county lines," said Morgan County Recorder Brenda D. Nelson. "It looks like there are some discrepancies. It could be off as much as 400 feet in some places."

The Morgan County Council approved an interlocal agreement with Summit County to settle the debate. County surveyors will decide on the final boundary and place permanent markers.
