Flooding forces I-15 closure in Box Elder County

PLYMOUTH -- Flooding has forced the closure Saturday afternoon of the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Plymouth in Box Elder County.

The closure began about 12:45 p.m. and crews are on the scene attempting to clear water from the roadway, said officials with the Box Elder County Dispatch Center. Traffic is being rerouted along State Road 13. Union Pacific Railroad has also halted train traffic because of water across tracks in the Riverside area.

There were also at least four traffic accidents on I-84 near Tremonton due to slick road conditions but no serious injuries. Four people were injured in the same area on Friday morning because of crashes occurring in icy and slick conditions.

Flooding was also reported near 4100 North 3500 East in Liberty and along Morgan Valley Drive in Morgan.
