Centerville, others agree on trail upkeep

CENTERVILLE — The city has officially spelled out the responsibilities of the Utah Department of Transportation and itself when it comes to the Legacy Parkway Trail maintenance.

City council members recently approved the maintenance agreement, which divides responsibilities among Centerville, other involved cities and UDOT. It dictates which responsibilities are to be undertaken jointly and those that will be performed separately by each city.

Joint maintenance activities will be performed by the county and paid for equally by each of these cities: Centerville, Farmington, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful and Woods Cross. The above-mentioned cities and the county have been working on the agreement for several months, and it is now being brought to each entity for approval.

Services to be performed by each entity within their boundaries include trash pickup at trailheads and along the trail, trailhead maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, graffiti removal and lighting maintenance.
