Alice J. Pearson Beus

Alice J. Pearson Beus celebrated her 90th birthday with a family party at Greycliff Lodge.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1922, in Malad, Idaho, to Matilda M. and Niels A. Pearson. She grew up in Ogden and Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School in 1940.

After she moved back to Ogden, she went to work at the Ogden Arsenal during the war, where she met her first husband. Their daughter, Carol Ann Ash, was born on Christmas Eve. A short time later, they divorced.

A second marriage a few years later gave her two more children: Brent M. Smith and Gayle Smith, who are both deceased.

After the death of her second husband, she attended and graduated from Stevens-Henager College. She went to work at J.C. Penney for 12 years, then went to work at the Internal Revenue Service, where she retired in 1987.

She was married for a third time to John A. Beus; they lived in Washington Terrace for 30 years. After he died in 2002, she sold the home and moved to South Ogden, where she enjoys her little patio home, being retired, her flowers, and her special little dog, Darcy, who keeps her company. She says her daughter, Carol Ann, is not only a much loved daughter, but a good friend. She also has a stepdaughter Patricia Ann Parish.

She has three grandchildren: Christine Terkelson, Kevin D. Allen, and Dena Ercanbrack. She has six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
