Olympic reunion on track

OGDEN -- The GOAL Foundation and friends love to get together for a good community party.

In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the 2002 Winter Olympics, the GOAL Foundation, Ogden City, Weber State University, Snowbasin Resort and the Ogden/Weber Convention and Visitors Bureau will team up to present the 2002 Winter Games Reunion.

A variety of activities and entertainment options are planned for Feb. 16-19 to celebrate the legacy of the world-class events, the venues and to rekindle the volunteer spirit during the games.

Festivities for the 2002 Winter Reunion include a snowshoe 5K fun run, a Winter Games celebration at The Ice Sheet, discount offers for Olympic volunteers at Snowbasin Resort, and a special reception prior to the 12th annual Banff Film Festival screening.

The GOAL Foundation will also rekindle volunteer efforts with on-site registration to participate in ongoing community athletic events.

The Ice Sheet, site of the 2002 curling competition, will host a Winter Games presentation Feb. 17, in conjunction with an Ogden Mustangs hockey game. Besides curling demonstrations between game periods, founding, former and present board GOAL members, volunteers and community supporters will be honored.
