Shirley J. Johnson

Shirley J. Johnson of Layton will celebrate her 80th birthday. The event will be commemorated at an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church located at 2455 Valley View Drive.

She was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Helper to Leonard R. and Dora A. Thayn. She attended Carbon High School.

She married Ferrall R. Johnson on Dec. 31, 1971, in Elko, Nev.

She raised four children.

She worked at Hill Air Force Base for the security police and retired from there.

She enjoys the outdoors, which includes hunting and fishing at Scofield Reservoir, golfing and bowling.

Her children and their spouses are Dale and Robin Bradshaw, Terri and Grant Whitesides, Scott and Linda Bradshaw, Shellee and John Stoughton, Sheryl and Lynn Stander, Sharon Ryan, Brent and Lori Johnson, and Brian and Michelle Johnson.

She has 31 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
