Tony Brown, son of William C. and Jennie D. Brown, celebrated his 90th birthday with many of his extended family members at home in Holladay on New Year's Day.
He was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Brigham City and grew up in Ogden. He married Marione M. White (later divorced). He then married Dorothy M. "Dottie" Putnam (deceased).
He has two siblings: Dean Brown (deceased) and Clavell Raty Brown. He was named Thelone after the region of France, where his father served in the infantry at the end of World War I. As an infant, his two-year older brother Dean's attempts to say Thelone became Tony's lifelong nickname. Both were Army Air Corps pilots during World War II, a year of which he served as a flight instructor. After the war, he co-owned a used car lot in Ogden, flew in the Air Force Reserve and commercially for fixed base operations (mosquito abatement), flying Tiger Cargo Line, and the last 29 years of his career in positions of pilot, flight instructor captain, and flight training manager for United Airlines in Denver, retiring in 1984.
