OGDEN -- Black ice on Washington Boulevard played a part Tuesday morning when a Brigham City woman unintentionally deposited her pickup truck through the front door of a Golden West Credit Union.
Heavy snow Monday evening, followed by bright sun and cold temperatures Tuesday morning, left many roads covered with black ice with a layer of water on top.
The Weber County Emergency Dispatch Center recorded 23 vehicle accidents between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Brenda Owen, 31, was driving a 1974 GMC pickup south in the inside lane of Washington Boulevard at 9:34 a.m. when she hit a patch of ice, slid across two lanes, jumped the curb and slammed into the outer glass-and-steel doors of the credit union at 805 Washington Blvd., Ogden Officer Mark Smith wrote in his report.
The crash destroyed the outer doors, but left the inner doors undamaged.
Nobody inside the credit union was injured.
Smith said Owen received very minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He said there was no sign of impairment, and she was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Dave Spencer, facilities manager for Golden West, said the credit union received about $4,000 in damage.
