Board working with gas station owner

PLAIN CITY -- The city planning commission is working on a site plan for the Maverik gas station that will replace the Chevron.

Planning Commissioner Jared Maw said neighbors of the Chevron have been upset for some time by the lighting and radios that play under the awning as people gas up.

They also have been upset by the carwash going at all hours of the night.

Maw said the commission is asking the owners of the Maverik to comply with the city nuisance ordinance, and said they are putting in new lights that shine only toward the ground.

Maw also said the new owners will be getting rid of parking on the north side of the lot.

Boone's restaurant will also go, but there will be a counter with stools for morning coffee, Maw said. He said Maveriks don't usually have a carwash, but that may continue to run with a separate owner.
