City council revises alcohol ordinance

Harrisville -- The city council has passed an alcoholic beverage control ordinance.

The ordinance approved this week increases the costs of commercial liquor licenses from $200 to $300.

"I believe it's the state recommendation," said Pamela Crosbie, the city's human resource director.

The ordinance also clarifies and updates language from the former alcoholic beverage control ordinance.

"It's just much easier to read," Crosbie said. "If you read this one and the old one, this one is much clearer."
