Demi Moore suffered convulsions after 'smoking something'

LOS ANGELES -- A woman who called 911 from Demi Moore's home Monday night told officials the movie star was suffering convulsions and was semi-conscious after "smoking something."

The unidentified woman told the 911 operator that Moore "smoked something -- it's not marijuana, it's similar to incense" and she "seems to be suffering convulsions."

She said "Demi" was barely breathing and had an "accidental" reaction after smoking something.

Paramedics responded to Moore's home near Benedict Canyon to treat her for an undisclosed illness. They treated her and took her to a hospital, according to sources. Her publicist said only that the actress is getting medical help for "exhaustion" and to "improve her overall health."

The 911 tape was redacted before being released to comply with federal medical privacy rules.

"Generally speaking, it's our recommendation to withhold release of any medical condition or ingested substance related to an incident," said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney's office, which has reviewed the 911 tape and made recommendations to city agencies on which sections to cut.

Moore, who recently starred in the movie "Margin Call," disclosed last fall that she was ending her marriage to actor Ashton Kutcher.

In a statement released Monday to the Los Angeles Times' Ministry of Gossip blog, a Moore representative said: "Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."
