Officer in shooting out of hospital

OGDEN — Officials at McKay-Dee Hospital announced Sunday the release of Ogden Police Officer Kasey Burrell.

He is the last of five officers injured in a Jan. 4 shooting to be released.

A statement from the Burrell family also released by the hospital reads: “We appreciate the love and support shown to our family through this difficult time.”

The statement also asks media representatives to give them time and to honor the family’s wishes for privacy. It states that family members will not be responding to press inquiries.

Hospital officials have repeatedly stated that Burrell remained in fair condition over the past several weeks.

Jared Francom, a member of the Ogden Police Department since 2005, died of his wounds suffered in the incident, in which a dozen agents with the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force attempted to serve a warrant at an Ogden residence.
