In this day, racism is alive and well, after all the years following the Civil Rights Amendment was passed into law. The mere fact that the president, who was elected by a majority of the people, is a person of a different color and has been put through a massive amount of questioning about his place of birth, and his religious affiliation.
The minority leader of the U.S. Senate announced to the country that this person should only be a one-term president and has done his best, along with the help of his party, to do nothing but work toward the president's being defeated in his attempt to be reelected. The Republicans have done their very best to do nothing for the country, in the hope that they would be the majority so that the country could be moved more toward the support of the more well to do. The rest would be left to fight for the little that is given to them. The mere facts of their bigoted campaign should be evidence of what is driving their main agenda, which is to keep the minorities in this country at the bottom of economic classes. The idea that all men are created equal should apply to all men and women of every race. That is the main premise of the Declaration of Independence and there are no words that point to any race or gender.
