New transponders for water meters

CLEARFIELD — Installation of about 3,400 water meter transponders means a cost savings for the city as well as a more efficient way to track water usage.

The Clearfield City Utilities Department is replacing the transponders throughout the city. The transponders are approximately 10 to 15 years old. They transmit water-usage information to the city for billing purposes.

This process, which began in late December, does not interrupt water service during the changeover.
