Forest Service urges caution

OGDEN — The U.S. Forest Service issued a reminder Wednesday that new snow has made recreation in the Wasatch-Cache-Uintah National Forest more hazardous.

The advisory says anyone going into the forest should check avalanche danger by calling 888-999-4019 or going to www.utahavalanchecenter.org.

People are urged to carry safety equipment such as beacons, shovels and probes; always let someone know where you are and the approximate time you will return; and carry matches, water, food, extra clothing, flashlight, whistle, first-aid kit and a cellphone.
