Grenade causes evacuation at Ogden charter school

OGDEN — An Ogden charter school was evacuated Wednesday after a student brought an inert grenade to the campus.

Ogden police arrived at Ogden Preparatory Academy at 12:43 p.m. after someone called them saying a 14-year-old student brought the grenade to school, Police Lt. Tony Fox said.

Administrators evacuated the school as a safety precaution. Before officers arrived, they did not know the grenade was inert.

The student did not mean any harm by it and was not cited or arrested, Fox said.
