Planned burn starts today east of WSU

OGDEN — The forest service plans to burn 10 slash piles east of Weber State University starting today.

The burns are to reduce heavy fuel loads and improve access for firefighting resources, according to a statement from Kathy Jo Pollock, forest service spokeswoman.

During the burn, smoke may be visible across Weber and Morgan counties.

Recent snow should help prevent the fires from spreading to plants beyond the piles, Pollock stated.
