Registration is open for a backyard chicken class to be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 22 at the Weber County Utah State University Extension office.

Officials said the class was very popular last year as area residents were interested in raising chickens for their own use.

This year's class will be taught jointly by David Frame, USU state extension poultry specialist and James Barnhill, a Weber and Morgan county extension agricultural agent.

Class topics will include breed selection, flock facility requirements, nutritional needs and other general management issues.

Arrangements will be available for those wishing to attend who make reasonable special needs requests five working days before the event.

Pre-registration deadline is March 16. Cost is $10 per person.

The Weber County USU extension office is located at 1181 N. Fairgrounds Drive in Ogden.
